Chennai, Tamil Nadu: The Greater Chennai Police and the SRM Group of Institutions jointly organized a successful anti-drug awareness event titled ‘Drug Free Tamil Nadu – 2026’ on July 8 at the Easwari Engineering College campus in Ramapuram. Dr. A. Amalraj, IPS, Commissioner of Greater Chennai Police, attended the event as the chief guest and addressed the students. In his speech, he urged the youth to stay away from drug abuse and to act as ambassadors of change in creating a healthy and safe society. He further explained the perils of narcotics and the social and familial impacts they cause, calling upon students to play a pivotal role in achieving the goal of a “Drug-Free Tamil Nadu.” As part of the event, students took the “I am Against Drugs” pledge and enthusiastically participated in a signature campaign and a selfie-based awareness drive. The event, aimed at completely eradicating drug abuse and spreading awareness across all sections of society, was well-received by the students.
