Banda, Uttar Pradesh: In a remarkable display of prompt investigation and courageous action, the Banda Police rescued a minor girl and arrested two accused within 24 hours of a heinous crime involving abduction and an attempted sexual assault.
The incident occurred on July 24, 2026, when the minor girl boarded an e-rickshaw late at night. During the journey, the driver allegedly called an accomplice, and together they abducted the victim before attempting to sexually assault her. The accused then fled the scene.
Acting immediately on receiving the complaint, the police safely rescued the victim and launched an intensive investigation. By analysing CCTV footage, technical evidence, and e-rickshaw verification, investigators quickly identified the suspects and traced their movements.
Within a day, the police tracked the accused to their hideout and surrounded them. According to police, the suspects attempted to escape by opening fire on the police team. Acting in self-defense, the officers retaliated and successfully apprehended both accused. During the operation, police recovered the e-rickshaw used in the crime and an illegal firearm from their possession.
The swift rescue of the victim, the rapid identification of the accused, and their arrest within 24 hours highlight the Banda Police’s professionalism, investigative efficiency, and unwavering commitment to protecting women and children while ensuring that those responsible for serious crimes are brought to justice.
