East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh: Upon receiving information through the Dial-112 Control Room that a person was attempting suicide from the Maddur Lanka Bridge under the limits of Kovvur Rural Police Station in East Godavari District, the Kovvur Rural Police immediately rushed to the spot.
Displaying exceptional alertness, professionalism, and presence of mind, the police personnel safely rescued the individual and prevented the suicide attempt, thereby saving a precious life.
During preliminary enquiry, the rescued individual disclosed only that he belongs to Madhya Pradesh. He is currently under the care and protection of the police. Efforts are underway to establish his identity, trace his family members, and inform them accordingly.
DGP, Shri Harish Kumar Gupta, IPS, appreciated the prompt response and timely intervention of the Kovvur Rural Police in saving a precious life. He commended the officers for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to public safety, and encouraged them to continue serving with the same spirit and compassion.
