Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh: Srikakulam District Police, under the direction of District SP K.V. Maheswara Reddy IPS, have intensified coordinated enforcement and awareness initiatives to enhance public safety, prevent road accidents, and curb illegal transportation.
Through the ‘Abhayam Helmet’ program, police are educating two-wheeler riders and students on the importance of wearing quality helmets, emphasizing that both riders and pillion passengers must wear helmets. The initiative highlights how proper helmet use can significantly reduce the risk of serious injuries and fatalities during accidents.
As part of visible policing, extensive vehicle checks are being conducted at border checkpoints, major roads, junctions, national highways, and urban areas. Police are focusing on violations including drunk driving, over speeding, triple riding, improper number plates, and mobile phone use while driving.
Stringent measures are also being taken to prevent illegal transportation, with suspicious vehicles being thoroughly inspected and individuals involved in unlawful activities closely monitored. Police have warned that strict legal action will be taken against those violating the law.
The Srikakulam District Police are also conducting continuous road safety awareness campaigns, urging motorists to control speed, wear helmets and seatbelts, obey traffic signals, and never drive under the influence of alcohol.
