Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh: Srikakulam District Police, under the leadership of District SP K.V. Maheswara Reddy IPS, have launched the “Palle Nidra” (Village Night-Stay) initiative to strengthen community policing and directly address the concerns of rural residents.
As part of the programme, police officers and personnel are staying overnight in villages under the jurisdictions of Gara, Ponduru, Tekkali, Etcherla, and Ichchapuram Police Stations. The initiative enables police teams to interact closely with villagers, understand their grievances, and take timely steps to resolve their safety and security concerns.
In view of the upcoming local body elections, special surveillance and preventive measures are also being implemented in sensitive areas to maintain peace and prevent untoward incidents.
Police personnel are conducting awareness programmes on women and child safety, social-media crimes, cyber fraud, drug abuse, and other illegal activities. Strict action has been warned against anti-social activities such as illegal liquor sales, ganja trafficking, and gambling.
The public has been encouraged to promptly inform police about suspicious or unlawful activities in their neighbourhoods.
The “Palle Nidra” initiative reflects Srikakulam Police’s people-centric approach, bringing police officers closer to rural communities while strengthening public trust, preventive policing, and law-and-order management.
