Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh: Acting on credible advance information about the illegal transportation of ganja from Odisha towards Tuni, Anakapalli District Police conducted vehicle checks at Sampathipuram Junction in Anakapalli Mandal and intercepted a suspected drug-smuggling operation.
During the operation, police stopped a van allegedly carrying a large quantity of ganja. A Honda Civic, reportedly being used as a pilot vehicle to facilitate the transportation, was also intercepted. Three persons were arrested in connection with the case.
Police seized 600 kg of ganja, estimated to be worth approximately ₹3 crore, along with the van used for transporting the contraband and the Honda Civic used as the pilot vehicle.
The operation was carried out following advance intelligence inputs and effective vehicle checking by the Anakapalli Police. The seized ganja and vehicles have been taken into custody as part of the investigation. Further details regarding the arrested accused and the drug trafficking network are expected to emerge during the probe.
DGP Shri Harish Kumar Gupta, IPS, appreciated the Anakapalli District Police officers for their effective operation, which led to the seizure of a large quantity of ganja and the arrest of three accused.
