Kanker Police Intensify Action Against Drug Trade
Kanker, Chhattisgarh: As part of the “Ujiyara” campaign against the illegal drug trade, Kanker Police have taken decisive action against the sale and purchase of narcotic tablets.
Acting on a tip-off regarding the illegal sale of narcotic tablets near Kishanpuri School on September 13, 2026, Korar Police immediately conducted a raid and arrested four persons. The accused were identified as Sheikh Shadab Khan, Himanshu Sahu and Wasim Khan, who were allegedly purchasing the tablets, and Sheikh Sadik Anas, who was allegedly involved in their sale.
During the operation, police recovered 1,410 Alprazolam tablets (Alzomac-0.5) weighing approximately 183 grams and valued at around ₹25,500. Police also seized two mobile phones worth ₹45,000 and ₹6,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from the sale.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused had allegedly travelled from Balod to sell the narcotic tablets. A case has been registered under Section 22(c) of the NDPS Act and Section 111 of the BNS, and further investigation is underway. The accused were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
The operation was carried out under the direction of Superintendent of Police Shri Nikhil Rakhecha, IPS, with the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Shri Yogesh Kumar Sahu and SDOP Shri Harish Patil.
Kanker Police reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against drug trafficking and protecting young people from substance abuse. Citizens are urged to promptly share information about drug-related activities or any suspicious or criminal activity.
