Madurai, Tamil Nadu: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) received confidential information that Mr. Ramasamy, the Chief Engineer of the Madurai Corporation, and his office staff were accepting bribes from contractors. Acting on this credible information, officials conducted a surprise joint raid on September 22, 2026. During the operation, unaccounted cash amounting to ₹1,35,000 (one lakh thirty-five thousand rupees) was seized from the office staff and contractors. Officials are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
