<![CDATA[The police investigating the murder of a 55-year-old woman have arrested her 29-year-old adopted daughter and her boyfriend. Vijayamma was murdered in her house situated on 5th Main Road in Chamarajpet on Tuesday afternoon. The daughter, Sonu Pujari, told the police that she had nurtured grudge against Vijayamma who allegedly forced her into prostitution when she was a minor. “She and her friend B. Kumar also claimed that they needed money, and decided to kill the woman for her jewellery,” the police told, who recovered a necklace, two bangles and a pair of earrings from the duo. Vijayamma hails from Mangaluru. She lived alone in Chamarajpet. She had a beauty parlour in the area. According to the police, Sonu worked as an assistant in the parlour. She lived in a paying guest accommodation in Dattatreya block, K.G. Nagar, where Kumar was an assistant. Vijayamma had told neighbours that Sonu, a native of Punjab, was her adopted daughter. As she had no family, Sonu would take care of Vijayamma and help her with the daily chores. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) M.N. Anucheth told that on Tuesday, Sonu visited Vijayamma around 1 p.m. and prepared food for her. A little later, Kumar arrived with alcohol. The three consumed the food and alcohol. The police told that while Vijayamma was in the kitchen, Kumar strangled her using a cloth. When she resisted, Sonu hit her head with a wooden log. When Vijayamma collapsed, they allegedly removed the gold ornaments she was wearing before breaking open the cupboard the police told. The police told that they arrested Sonu at her PG while Kumar was arrested from an apartment in the same area where he had hidden the jewellery.]]>
