Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh: Visakhapatnam Range Inspector General of Police Shri Gopinath Jatti, IPS, conducted a comprehensive review meeting with the Superintendents of Police of six districts under the Visakhapatnam Range through video conference. Srikakulam District SP K.V. Maheshwara Reddy, IPS, and other district SPs participated.
The meeting reviewed key priorities including local body election preparedness, crime control, women and child safety, road safety, cybercrime, drug eradication and preventive policing.
Under APOLIS, the IGP directed officers to maintain accurate police personnel details, make effective use of available modules and personally monitor pending matters. Cases involving crimes against women and children, including POCSO cases, dowry deaths, rape and missing girls, were reviewed, with instructions to expedite investigations and maintain a zero-tolerance approach.
On road safety, accident patterns and black spots were reviewed, with directions for appropriate engineering and enforcement measures. Officers were also advised to use technology for speedy identification of accused in hit-and-run cases.
Under the Zero Drugs – NDPS initiative, continuous monitoring of cannabis cultivation, transportation, storage and sale was emphasized, along with supply-network identification, financial investigation and action against illegal assets.
The IGP also reviewed pending murder cases, Lok Adalat opportunities, cybercrime cases involving frozen funds, and measures to strengthen technology-driven smart policing.
In view of the upcoming local body elections, district-level security plans are being strengthened by identifying sensitive areas, problematic locations and vulnerable polling stations. Officers were directed to intensify preventive policing, maintain surveillance over habitual offenders and troublemakers, and expedite execution of pending Non-Bailable Warrants (NBWs).
The IGP instructed district SPs to personally supervise election security preparations, visit problematic areas and assess field-level conditions. Officers and personnel were directed to maintain clear responsibilities and close coordination.
The review emphasized preventive policing, effective crime control and public safety to ensure peaceful and secure local body elections across the Visakhapatnam Range.
