The action followed a detailed investigation involving technical evidence and analysis of banking transactions. The case was registered at Khadgaon Police Station as Crime No. 06/26 under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

During the investigation, police traced ₹3,12,348, allegedly defrauded from a victim, through nine different bank accounts. Investigators also identified a virtual bank account bearing number 211071614, into which ₹60,000 had been transferred.

Police investigation reportedly revealed that the virtual account was connected with a large number of cybercrime complaints across the country. According to the investigation, 176 FIRs had been registered against the network in different states.

The state-wise FIR details identified during the investigation include:

  • Karnataka – 54 FIRs
  • Bihar – 46 FIRs
  • Telangana – 28 FIRs
  • Uttar Pradesh – 10 FIRs
  • Kerala – 8 FIRs
  • Maharashtra – 7 FIRs
  • Haryana – 6 FIRs
  • Tamil Nadu – 6 FIRs
  • Delhi – 4 FIRs
  • West Bengal – 3 FIRs
  • Andaman & Nicobar – 1 FIR
  • Arunachal Pradesh – 1 FIR

Within the Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district, 31 complaints were reportedly linked to the network. These included 15 complaints at Ambagarh Chowki Police Station, 9 at Khadgaon Police Station, 3 at Mohla Police Station, 2 at Manpur Police Station, and one each at Gotatola and Madanwara Police Stations.

Police teams from different states had been searching for the accused, who allegedly changed locations frequently. Through technical investigation, banking transaction analysis and coordinated police action, the district police team traced and apprehended all three accused on September 30, 2026.

The successful operation involved the commendable efforts of Probationary Sub-Inspector Abdul Riyaz, Assistant Sub-Inspector Dhan Singh Mahilange, Constable Ashish Jogi, Constable Narmada Prasad Paikra, Female Assistant Constable Sarita Jade and the District Cyber Cell.

The operation highlights the importance of technical investigation, financial trail analysis and inter-state police coordination in tackling organised cyber fraud networks.

Police have appealed to the public to remain vigilant against unknown bank accounts, virtual banking arrangements and suspicious financial requests. Citizens who become victims of cyber fraud have been advised to report the incident immediately to the nearest police station or through the national cybercrime reporting and helpline mechanisms to facilitate prompt action.
