The City Crime Branch (CCB) on Saturday seized 108 kg. of ganja and arrested nine people who were allegedly transporting the contraband to Karnataka and Kerala. The Police said that this is the first time that such a huge quantity of the substance has been seized from one place in the city. According to the police, the accused have a network spread across Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Kerala with Bengaluru as the nodal point. The main accused has been identified as Nainesh, 36, from Thrissur in Kerala. On April 4, Nainesh and his associates allegedly traveled to Odisha from Bengaluru to source ganja. The CCB learned that they would be bringing back the substance to Nainesh’s residence in Eshwarnagar, in Indiranagar. Police were waiting for him when he reached his residence around 3 a.m. on Saturday. The police said that two cars in which the substance was being transported have been seized. When the police inspected the vehicles, they found seven bags full of ganja. The other accused are Anas, Prajildas, Shafi, Akshay Kumar, Saajan, Shinaj, Najeeb and Mustaq, who hail from Kerala. All of them were involved in selling the substance to students and other people in the city.
