<![CDATA[Three security guards from Assam, who were working in the city, were arrested for allegedly kidnapping and murdering their 81-year-old employer at his farmhouse in Gouribidanur on the outskirts of the city anticipating a ransom of Rs.70 lakh. Victim Karim Khan’s family filed a complaint with the police after he went missing, following which the guards fled the scene. Suspecting their role, the police tracked them down to Howrah station in Bengal and brought them to back to the city. They found the body of Karim Khan on Saturday. The deceased, a resident of R.T. Nagar, owns a farmhouse in Gouribidanur where he had employed Zakir, Muthabuddin and Nasrulla as security guards. Karim Khan would visit the farmhouse often and would reportedly take good care of the three guards aged between 22 and 25. The three guards learnt that Karim Khan had recently sold a piece of land. They allegedly decided to kidnap him and demand a ransom. As per the plan, they dug a pit in a shed in the farmhouse where a motor was installed to pump water. Last Thursday, when Karim Khan visited the farmhouse, the three allegedly overpowered him, tied his hands and legs, and gagged his mouth before dumping him in the pit. They waited for a day before calling the family and demanding a ransom. But in the meantime, the family members noticed that Karim Khan was missing and called up the three guards asking whether he had visited the farmhouse. They replied in the negative. The worried family filed a complaint with the police on Friday. Meanwhile, the trio fled from the farmhouse and took a train to Kolkata in Bengal. The police took a flight to Kolkata and nabbed the trio before they could get down from the train. The trio told the police what they had done to Karim Khan. After communicating the message to the jurisdictional Gouribidabur police, a police team rushed to the spot and found Karim Khan’s body. He had died due to asphyxiation, as the accused had gagged his mouth, a police officer said. The police produced the trio in court and have taken them into custody.]]>
