<![CDATA[Surat: A 40-year-old auto rickshaw driver was arrested for allegedly raping his minor daughter in Kosad area of the city on Sunday. The accused Anwar (name changed), who has been booked under various sections of IPC and also Protection of Children From Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, was produced before a local court by police, which sent him to judicial custody. The 14-year-old girl registered a complaint against her father at Amroli Police Station on Saturday. The girl told police that her father began molesting her four years ago and then raped her several times since then. She told her mother about her ordeal who reprimanded him but refrained from registering a police complaint against him fearing social infamy. The girl’s mother met with an accident last month and succumbed to her injuries on November 7. The girl fled to her grandfather’s house soon thereafter, saying that she feared her father. “She told her grandmother about her sexual exploitation by her father. The girl accompanied by her grandmother and maternal uncle came to the police station and registered a police complaint against her father. Based on her complaint, we arrested the accused and presented him in a local court,” a police officer said. The girl and the accused underwent medical examinations, the reports of which are expected to come on Monday.
