Coimbatore: A man was arrested on Sunday on charges of rape and murder of a minor girl at Kasthurinaickenpudur near Pannimadai last Monday.
The accused was identified as K Santhosh Kumar aged 34 who was the girl’s neighbor. The accused had taken her to his grandmother’s house on the pretext of helping her and raped and then murdered her and then put the body in a gunny bag and dumped it a room. His grandmother also died the same day under mysterious circumstances, the police said.
The police said that at around 5a.m the accused came out of the house and dumped the body near the victim’s house and he had covered her face with a T-shirt. He confessed to have committed the crime to one of the 14 special teams of the rural police who were questioning the neighbors. The police took him to the shop where he had purchased the t-shirt. He was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
