Noida: Traffic was stalled at the Rajnigandha underpass for three hours on Tuesday morning as the rainwater was being pumped out as part of routine drainage on the Noida-Delhi carriageway of the underpass. The road was congested from 10am to 1pm.
Traffic came to a standstill on the 12/22 route, Chaura Morh, Sector 10 T-point and BSNL Chowk till the underpass. Instead of barricading the carriageway, a tractor and a bike were parked on it to stop the traffic at the spot. Commuters complained that there was lack of traffic management at the spot. Traffic inspector Dharmendra Yadav said the jam was witnessed for some time in the morning. However, traffic police ensured that traffic moved smoothly.
The route is used by many office-goers but there was no advisory issued by the traffic police that the water was going to be drained out.
"I was going to my office in Delhi when I found that the underpass was closed, because of which I was stuck for an hour. An advisory should have been issued so that we could have thought of an alternative route," said Ram Pratap, a Sector 19 resident.
