Chennai: The Election Commission had issued an order to the Chief Secretary, Ms. Girija Vaidyanathan to appoint Mr. Ashutosh Shukla as DGP elections. As per the communication received by the Chief Secretary, she issued an order on Thursday appointing Mr. Shukla as DGP, Elections. The DGP has been entrusted with the supervision of all election-related works, involving the police. All police officials connected with electoral process should report to Mr. Shukla until the completion of the Lok Sabha elections. Police officials Mr. H.M. Jayaram(IG) and Mr. S.N. Seshasai(IG) were present when Mr. Shukla took charge of office on Thursday at the police headquarters. Then as he spoke to the media he said, we are ensuring free and fair elections so that the public can come out fearlessly for maximum participation in the election. We will ensure totally free and fair polling in Tamil Nadu on April 18. ]]>
