COIMBATORE: On Tuesday night, two men who physically abused doctor and the staff got arrested and the police filed a case against the offenders for assaulting them physically at Mettupalayam Government Hospital. They have been arrested under four sections including woman harassment. The hospital administration narrated the whole incident that the victim Rukmini met with an accident on Coimbatore main road and was brought to the emergency ward at approximately 6.55pm. First Aid treatment was immediately provided. Looking at the serious condition of the injured person, the doctor and staff began referral procedures to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital and also arranged for an ambulance. Nevertheless, the arrangement done for her better treatment was refused by her relatives and taken to a private hospital nearby. From there again she was readmitted in Mettupalayam hospital lately. Before any treatment procedure could begin she was declared dead. Following the incident, the relatives physically assaulted the doctor, staff nurse Mahalakshmi and the paramedical staff Kumarasamy, who are undergoing treatment now. At this juncture, doctors filed a complaint against those relatives taking the help of CCTV footage video where the whole incident was recorded. Based on the complaint and evidential reported submitted by the Chief Medical officer Mr. S Seralathan, police have registered a case against them on Wednesday said DSP. Now they are charged under four sections including woman harassment, voluntarily causing hurt (323) of IPC and Tamil Nadu Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions Act, 2008. Following the arrest of the offenders, the protest which was supposed be held today was withdrawn yesterday evening. ]]>
