New Delhi: The Delhi Police, on Children’s Day, rescued 27 missing children from various railway stations and Interstate bus terminals of the national capital on Thursday as the Police personal of the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the crime branch and an NGO conducted a joint operation.
Mr. BK Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch said, 11 out of 27 children have been reunited with their parents and efforts are on to contact the parents of the remaining children as well.
Mr.Singh said, these children either ran away from their homes or were abandoned by their parents but somehow managed to come to Delhi. Most of them are clueless about their whereabouts and have no idea about their future.
He said these children are now undergoing counseling in an NGO, Sathi. Most of them boarded a train from remote places of Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh and reached Delhi with no idea about where to go and what to do.
The AHTU of the crime branch has successfully managed to rescue 617 children from Delhi’s different railway stations, bus stands under ‘operation Milap’ till November 14 this year.
Besides this, the AHTU of Delhi Police has rescued around 905 kidnapped, abducted or missing persons during the same period. Out of that, 144 were minor and 520 females.
