Malkangiri: The Odisha Police on receiving a complaint from the victim, moved into action and swiftly investigated the case. From the investigation conducted it was found that five persons from Kondapali village in the district were responsible for the attempted crime and they were arrested on Sunday. The men had portrayed as Maoists and attempted to extort money from the contractor.
The accused were identified as Enka Sonam, Betti Bojji aged 32, Narayan Marka aged 24, Kunja Batraya aged 38 and Sodi Lenin aged 29, all belonging to Kondapalli.
The victim, C Venugopal made a complaint to the Motu police station on Saturday against the accused. In his complaint Mr.C. Venugopal stated that the accused had demanded Rs 50 lakh as extortion money by claiming themselves as Maoists. They were contacting him from the mobile number 8763503987. After arresting the accused they were later forwarded to the court.
