In the notice released by the Tripura cybercrime Police, it is stated that the general public is advised not to believe fake advertisements in OLX, Quikr, and other social media. Criminals posing as Army officials, the staff of uniformed services like CRPF, CISF, etc give advertisements to sell mobile phones, cars, bikes and electronic gadgets at cheap rates and extract money through Paytm and bank accounts by citing reasons as the advance amount and delivery charges, etc. They will send fake army identity cards and army photos and lure money from the victims.

Never make any payment while you communicate with strangers over SMS, WhatsApp unless you meet them physically before you sell or buy any product through OLX/Quikr. If you are shipping a product ensure you receive full payment before you actually ship the product. If someone is selling a product and asks you as a buyer to transfer some fraction of the asking price as a registration, do not fall into this trap. It is better to avoid the low cost offers made by persons from other states.
