Uttarakhand: The Uttarakhand Police gave Mr. Jalil Ahmad a New Year gift that they will not forget for their entire life. The family he lost after the Kedarnath disaster is in front of him today. Jamil Ahmad, who left home in 2013 from Sitarganj in Udhamsinghnagar district to Joshimath in Chamoli district, is with his family today after six years. Jalil Ahmed went missing in Lambagad town during the Kedarnath disaster. He was rescued during the accident, although he could not remember his name and address properly, so he was kept in the old age home of the Social Welfare Department at Gopeshwar.
A few days ago, Operation Smile Team received information from old age home Gopeshwar that an elderly person has been living in the ashram for the last several years. He said, during the interrogation, when he was asked to emphasize memory, he told that he had come from Sitarganj in 2009 to Joshimath in search of wages and in 2013 worked in Lambagad. During the disaster, all his belongings, money and identity cards were washed away and he was not able to remember his name and address properly.
Constable Mr. Chandan Nagerkoti from the police team was sent to Sitarganj to locate the family of the elderly man. Mr. Chandan had earlier been posted in Sitarganj, so he was also known to the locals. Along with contacting the local police, he also posted the photo of Jameel on social media. The effect was that success was found quickly. Jamil’s nephew Wasim saw this photo and recognized his uncle. He informed the family. On this, the family met Mr. Nagerkoti and told that they are from Chinti Majra near Sitarganj.Mr. Jalil has two sons and two daughters in his family.Mr. Chandan Nagerkoti had a video call on mobile with Jamil’s family members. While talking, Jamil’s eyes were moist as well as that of his family members. On Wednesday, Jamil’s elder son Shakeel and his mother Mobin reached Gopeshwar. Everyone got emotional as soon as the three met in the old age home. All eyes were thanking the members of Operation Smile Team.
