<![CDATA[Haridwar: A day after the altercation between ABVP members and Haridwar (rural) MLA Swami Yatishwaranand and his supporters, a complaint was filed by ABVP leaders against the MLA and eight of his supporters on Sunday. Based on the complaint the police registered a case against the MLA under sections 147 (rioting), 323 (causing hurt voluntarily), 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapons), 149 (unlawful assembly), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 3 (1) (10) of SC/ST Act (intentionally insulting a member of a SC/ST group). Notably, a case has already been registered against ABVP leaders on the basis of a complaint made by Yatishwaranand on Saturday. According to Mr. Amarjeet Singh, SHO, Jwalapur police station ,A complaint was given by Mohit Chouhan, former president of Gurukul Kangri against the MLA. Accordingly, a case was registered against Swami Yatishwaranand and eight others including the president of the students’ union of Gurukul University Vikram Bhullar. An investigation has been initiated.” Reacting to the case against him, Yatishwaranand told that he suspected that “a senior leader of our party is behind the whole episode with an intention to defame me.” He however refused to divulge any further details, adding that he has “explained the entire matter to state president Ajay Bhatt and demanded an inquiry.” Meanwhile, right-wing group Bajrang Dal also jumped into the matter on Sunday and levelled allegations against Yatishwaranand. “The MLA has become arrogant after winning the election. However, we will not tolerate this attitude. He has filed a case against our leaders and so we have every right to take steps for protecting our leaders,” said Anuj Walia, district president of Bajrang Dal. Supporters of tourism minister Satpal Maharaj also met Swami Yatishwaranand on Sunday and promised their support to the MLA. Incidentally, Yatishwranand had supported Maharaj when a fight had broken out between the followers of the cabinet minister and mayor Manoj Garg last month.]]>
