Hyderabad: In Hyderabad, the joint efforts of the Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team, in conjunction with Telephone Department Officials and Santosh Nagar Police, have resulted in the apprehension of two individuals involved in the illicit operation of Call Routing within the jurisdictions of Santosh Nagar and Balapur. The nefarious activity involved the rerouting of International Incoming Calls into local calls via the Internet, facilitated by VOIP equipment. This deceitful maneuver not only defrauded the Government of India but also inflicted substantial financial losses upon the Department of Telecommunications. Moreover, such actions posed a grave threat to national security.

The apprehended individuals, identified as Hidayath Ali and Mujahed Ahmed, both residents of Hyderabad, were discovered orchestrating an illegal International Telephone Exchange setup in the locales of Poolbagh and Balapur. Their modus operandi involved the utilization of Internet connections, SIM boxes, and BSNL SIMs to redirect calls from foreign territories, including Dubai, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, into India through unauthorized ILD exchanges. By manipulating CLI (Calling Line Identification), the perpetrators masked international origins with Indian mobile numbers, further camouflaging their illicit activities.

The raid, orchestrated with meticulous planning, targeted the operational centers of the accused individuals. In Poolbagh, Hidayath Ali’s clandestine operation was dismantled, revealing an elaborate network comprising internet connections, SIM boxes, laptops, cell phones, and assorted paraphernalia essential for the execution of their illegal enterprise. Simultaneously, in Balapur, another raid exposed further evidence of their wrongdoing.

The operation, conducted under the vigilant oversight of law enforcement authorities and DOT staff, culminated in the apprehension of the accused individuals and the seizure of the aforementioned incriminating evidence. The coordinated efforts of the Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team, underscored by the supervision of S. Rashmi Perumal, IPS, and A. Srinivasa Rao, Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police, Task Force, Hyderabad, facilitated the successful execution of the operation. Key personnel such as Shaik Jakeer Hussain, Inspector of Police, Task Force, South Zone, and K. Srikanth, Inspector of Police, Task Force (Admin), alongside SIs G. Anjaneyulu, K. Narsimulu, N. Naveen, and Task Force staff, collaborated closely with Telecom Department Official Sai Kumar to ensure the efficacy of the operation.

Subsequently, a comprehensive investigation was initiated, with a case registered under pertinent sections of the IT Act at Santosh Nagar Police Station, Hyderabad. This investigative endeavor aims to unravel the extent of the illicit operation and bring the perpetrators to justice, thereby safeguarding the integrity of telecommunications infrastructure and upholding national security interests.
