Thrissur City, Kerala: In a swift and effective operation, Town East Police arrested a 22-year-old youth in connection with an attempted sexual assault on a young woman.
The accused, identified as Gopakumar, a native of Koppam in Palakkad district, allegedly followed the victim on March 25, 2026, while she was returning home from work and attempted to assault her.
Based on the complaint received at Thrissur East Police Station, a case was registered and a detailed investigation was launched. During the course of investigation, police identified the accused and traced him to his residence in Koppam, where he was apprehended.
The accused was subsequently produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
The investigation was carried out under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner Sasidharan, with the team comprising Inspector Kiran, Sub-Inspectors Anusruthi and Reginaraj, Assistant Sub-Inspector S.V., and Civil Police Officers Harish, Deepak, Suraj, and Ajmal.
Police officials reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of women and taking strict action against offenders.
