Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, January 30: In a strong message against attacks on police personnel and drug trafficking, the Sompeta Sub Court has sentenced the accused to three years of rigorous imprisonment in Crime No.110/2020 registered under Sections 307 and 332 IPC within the limits of Kasibugga Police Station, Srikakulam district.
The case relates to an incident in which police personnel, acting on credible information about illegal transportation of ganja along National Highway-16 near Peacock Narayanapuram village, attempted to stop a suspicious container lorry. The accused allegedly rammed the vehicle towards the police party with an intention to escape, endangering their lives. The police team acted with courage and restraint, preventing a major threat and initiating legal action.
The case was meticulously investigated by the Kasibugga police team, who collected strong evidence and filed a charge sheet in court. Following effective arguments by the prosecution, the Hon’ble Sompeta Sub Court convicted the accused and imposed a sentence of three years’ rigorous imprisonment along with a fine.
