Thrissur City: Ashraf (54), a resident of Puthan Tharail Veedu, Edakkara Desam, was sentenced to 30 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs.1,50,000 by Kunnamkulam POCSO Judge S. Lisha in Thrissur. The court ordered that Rs.50,000 from the fine be paid to the victim. The crime occurred in 2018 and came to light when a friend informed the victim’s family. They subsequently filed a complaint with the Vadakkedakad police. After recording the statement of Senior Civil Police Officer Bindu KG, Inspector Amrita Rangan registered the case and submitted the charge sheet upon completion of the investigation. Special Public Prosecutor KS Binoy, along with Advocates Ranjika, Aswathi KN, and Sindhu, represented the prosecution, with GASI Geeta M assisting.
