Rachakonda: The SHE-Teams booked 57 cases (27 FIRS, 29 petty cases, and 1 counseling case) against eve-teasers in the last eight weeks and apprehended 49 respondent eve-teasers, out of 43 majors and 06 minor. The respondent eve-teasers have attended the counseling session conducted by Rachakonda SHE teams, at the Commissioner Camp office, Alkapuri X roads, LB Nagar, along with their family members, and they are counseled by the professional counselors from the Bhumika Women’s Collective (NGO). Children in conflict with the law will also be counseled by professional psychiatrist Dr.Vasavi to bring change in their behavior. Few important cases are given below:
In the first case, a 35-year-old housewife came to her mother’s house to help and support her mother, on the death of her father. They are residing in a rented house at Kuntlagudem village. On 31-7 2021 around 2.30 P.M. while she was bathing, suddenly she heard some camera flash and saw a mobile phone at the bathroom air exhaust fan. Immediately she came out and informed family members and all came outside and found her neighbor/the accused Kully Kumara Swamy son of Peddi Raju, age: 24 years at the bathroom window. After they noticed that the accused kept his mobile phone in her bathroom and capturing photos and recording videos when she was bathing, the videos and photos were found in the phone. On her complaint, the police registered a case at Choutuppal Police Station and the accused was arrested and remanded. This is a case of voyeurism.
In the second case a 21 years girl resident of Nagole studying B.Tech at GVR & 5 College of Engineering & Technology, Budampatu Guntur, went to her college to attend exams, while returning back to Hyderabad, she boarded an RTC bus at Guntur, the accused Padma Sudheer, age: 22 Years, who is her classmate followed her and boarded the same bus. In the moving bus, the accused started harassing her and forced her to come to his room. Immediately she contacted SHE Teams Rachakonda over the phone, on the information SHE Team caught the accused at LB Nagar X roads. On her complaint, a case was registered at LB Nagar Police Station and the accused was arrested and remanded. This is a case of harassment by her classmate in the name of love.
In the third case on 17-08-2021 & 18-08-2021, Decoy Operations were conducted by the SHE Team at LB Nagar at Victoria memorial compound wall lane Kothapet and found the respondents M.Shashi Vardhan 21Years, MD. Amir 21Years, K.Anil Kumar 21Years, MD. Amer 22 years, A.Sravan 22years, P.Saran 18years, and K.V. Jatin 21years while they were standing on the middle of the road creating a nuisance and teasing girls. Hence they were booked under petty case at Saroornagar Police Station.
In the fourth case on 18-08-2021, SHE Team Vanasthalipuram conducted Decoy Operation at ZP road, Sahiti Junior Girls College, Meerpet, and found a minor respondent came on a motorcycle parked in the bus stop and teasing girls while roaming in the college premises and creating a nuisance. Hence conducted counseling at Vanasthalipuram Police Station as the respondent is minor. In yet another case SHE Teams conducted Decoy operation and observation in Metro trains and fined 08 persons who intruded to ladies compartment.
Rachakonda SHE teams under the Leadership of Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, and with the cooperation of the Self-help groups conducted awareness programs among the common people in Prohibition of Child Marriages. In these awareness programs, the SHE Teams Rachakonda made the public understand the problems of child marriages and the child marriages alarming in rural areas.
As a success of the above awareness programs in the last two months, Rachakonda SHE teams stopped 9 child marriages, Bhongir-02, Choutuppal-04, Ibrahimpatnam-01, and LB Nagar-02. As of today total of 115 Child marriages were stopped by Rachakonda SHE Teams and rescued 115 minor girls from the Social evil which were planned to be performed at different places by their parents.
In addition to the above, in the last eight weeks total of 49 Eve teasers were caught by Rachakonda SHE teams in decoy operations and through WhatsApp/SMUC complaints from different areas of Rachakonda while they were teasing girls at different Hotspots like Metro train/ junctions/ Bus stops/Working Places and colleges of the Rachakonda area. All were booked under petty cases/FIRS and counseled by professional counselors of BHUMIKA WOMEN’S COLLECTIVE in the presence of their family members. Minors will be counseled by Chief Consultant Psychologist.
