Rachakonda: The Rachakonda SHE-Teams booked 71 cases which consisted of 31FIRS, 39 petty cases, and 1 counseling case against eve-teasers in the last nine weeks and apprehended 53 respondents eve-teasers, out of 52 majors and 01 minor. The respondent eve-teasers have attended the counseling session conducted by Rachakonda SHE teams, at the Commissioner Camp office, Alkapuri X roads, LB Nagar, along with their family members, and they are counseled by the professional counselors from the Bhumika Women’s Collective (NGO). Children in conflict with the law will also be counseled by professional psychiatrist Dr. Vasavi to bring change in their behavior.
The achievements of the SHE Teams are as follows:
One state government employee who is residing in Medipally area along with her family, after completing her job, she returned home and while she was getting refreshed in the bathroom she noticed from her bathroom that one unknown person was watching her from the ventilator, immediately she came out, then she called her husband and all of them came outside and caught the accused J. Sravan Kumar Reddy (38). She registered a complaint and a case was registered at Ghatkesar Police Station and the accused was arrested and remanded. This is a case of voyeurism.
In another case one private employee residing in the Vanasthalipuram area working with her husband along with her in-laws. Her husband’s father aged about 65 years has been harassing and misbehaving with his daughter-in-law when she was sleeping. On her complaint, the police booked a petty case at Vanasthalipuram Police Station. This is a case of sexual harassment by her father-in-law.
The success of SHE teams during Decoy Operations:
On 10-04-2021 the Kushaiguda SHE Team conducted Decoy Operation at Kessaragutta and found the respondent K. Anil Kumar(24) while he was eve-teasing girls. He was booked with a petty case at Keesara Police Station.
On 22-05-2021, SHE Team Malkajgiri conducted a decoy operation at Kurma Nagar and Laxmi Nagar Uppal and apprehended the respondent Komuri Prasad(20), Mangathurthi Bhanu Prakash(19), and Megam Nikhil Kumar(18) while they were creating a nuisance and eve-teasing women and girls. They were booked and a case was registered at Uppal Police Station.
On 16-04-2021 Sheteam Choutuppal Team conducted a decoy operation at the Choutuppal bus stop area and found the respondent Nenavath Ramesh(21) while he was creating a nuisance and eve-teasing girls in the Chotuppal bus stand. He was booked with a petty case at Choutuppal Police Station.
SHE Teams conducted Decoy operation and observation in Metro trains and fined 10 persons who intruded to ladies compartment.
Rachakonda SHE teams under the Leadership of Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, and with the cooperation of the Self-help groups created awareness programs among the common people in Prohibition of Child Marriages. In these awareness programs, the SHE Teams Rachakonda made the public understand the problems of child marriages.
As a success of the above awareness programs in the last two months, Rachakonda SHE teams Stopped 11 child marriages, Bhongir-05, Choutuppal-02, Kushaiguda-02, Ibrahimpatnam-01, and LB Nagar-01. As of 18.6.2021 total (106), Child marriages are stopped by Rachakonda SHE Teams and rescued 104 minor girls from Social evil i.e., child marriages that were planned to be performed at different places by their parents.
In addition to the above, in the last six weeks total of 53 Eve teasers were caught by Rachakonda SHE teams in decoy operations and through WhatsApp/SMUC complaints from different areas of Rachakonda while they are teasing girls at different Hotspots like Metro train/ junctions/ Bus stops/Working Places and colleges of the Rachakonda area. All were booked under petty cases/FIRs and counseled by professional counselors of BHUMIKA WOMEN’S COLLECTIVE in the presence of their family members. Minors will be counseled by Chief Consultant Psychologist.
