Bengaluru: Senior IPS officer, Additional Director General of Police M.A., Salim who has taken charge as ‘Special Commissioner’ (Traffic) of Bangalore city said, decongesting the roads in the city is my first priority.
Salim, who was the ADGP of the Administrative Division, was transferred to the upgraded post of Special Commissioner (Traffic) on Monday, and on Tuesday, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) B.R. Ravikante Gowda handed over the Powers to IPS officer, Additional Director General of Police M.A., Salim . He held a long meeting with senior officers of the Bangalore Traffic Police.
Speaking to Media, he said, ‘My priority is to reduce the traffic on the roads. A study is needed on the traffic problems in the city. Only after that I will be able to solve these problems. However, the traffic situation has changed a lot in the last few years and the number of vehicles has increased manifold. Even so, the Bangalore Traffic Police has managed to solve several problems,” he said.
There will be a lot of change in the coming days as the government is improving the public transport system, commuter rail scheme etc. Salim said technology will be used to improve traffic flow and automated enforcement will continue.
There is no need to stop the vehicles for checking the documents. This system will be implemented by using technology,’ he said.
Joint Commissioner of Traffic Department B.R. Ravi Kanthe Gowda has been transferred as DIG of CID.
IPS officer M.N. Anucheth has been promoted to the post of DIG and transferred to the post of Joint Commissioner.
