Aizawl: The Aizawl District Special Branch (DSB) team recently carried out a highly successful operation based on specific intelligence. Yesterday, they undertook a thorough search of the residence belonging to Malsawmkima, son of Lalthazova, situated in Zuangtui Gosen Veng. The outcome of this operation was the discovery of a substantial amount of narcotics.
During the search, the team made a significant seizure, uncovering a total of 101 bottles of Tuscorex 100ml. This particular cough syrup contains codeine, a controlled substance with potential for abuse. Additionally, the team found and confiscated 16 kilograms of suspected Ganja, a psychoactive substance derived from the cannabis plant. These illicit substances were concealed within two large bags and one parcel, cleverly hidden in the roof of a pigsty. Remarkably, this pigsty was constructed beneath the vacant space of their Assam-type house, indicating a sophisticated attempt to conceal the illegal drugs.
In light of this significant seizure, a case has been registered at Bawngkawn Police Station under sections 20(b)(ii)(B) and 22(c) of the ND&PS Act. These sections pertain to offenses related to possession, transportation, and sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. This registration will facilitate further investigation into potential forward and backward linkages, ensuring that all individuals involved in the illicit drug trade are identified and brought to justice.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to the dedicated members of Team Aizawl DSB for their commendable efforts in combating the narcotics trade. Their professionalism, diligence, and commitment to upholding the law are an inspiration. We encourage them to maintain their unwavering dedication and to continue their relentless pursuit of justice in the ongoing War on Drugs.
