On the eve of International Women’s Day an “All Women Athletic Meet” was organized under the leadership of SP North & Middle Andaman district Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal IPS. It was the first time that such an initiative has been taken on such a big platform for all women of the district. Women from all walks of life and all age groups had participated in large numbers with full zeal and enthusiasm. The event was inaugurated by Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS Superintendent of Police, North and Middle Andaman, who lauded the efforts of the district police in organising such a wonderful event to celebrate the spirit of womanhood. She also emphasised the importance of physical fitness and maintaining a healthy lifestyle by all women. Further, the Guest of honour Principal Mahatma Gandhi Govt. College, Mr. B Prabhuram had enlightened on the role of women in our society. He also appreciated the initiative of district police for such a grand event. Dr. C. P. Meena, DySP DHQ, Mr. Vishesh Dhatterwal, DANIPS SDPO Rangat and Mr. Lakshay Pandey, DANIPS SDPO Diglipur were the special guest on this occasion. The event aim to promote physical fitness, women empowerment and gender equality among women of all age groups. The event witnessed a large turnout of women, approximately 900 from various age groups throughout the district who enthusiastically participated in various events like short and long runs, shot put, long jump, relay race etc. The event also included a Race walk for the elderly women of above 60 years age group, a mother and daughter duo relay race, and a tug of war between lady police constables team and staff/students of Mahatma Gandhi Government College team.
The events were conducted with great fervour and enthusiasm. The participants put in their best efforts and gave their best performances, making it a tough competition for the judges. The winners of each event were awarded prizes and certificates by the District Police officials. The event was a great success in terms of promoting fitness, women empowerment and gender equality. The participants showed great enthusiasm and sportsmanship, which was appreciated by all. The event also provided an opportunity for women from different age groups and backgrounds to come together and bond over their shared love for sports and physical fitness. The event received overwhelming support from the local community, Gram Panchayat, local Administration with many people attending the event to cheer for the participants. The event also received coverage from local media, which helped to spread the message of women empowerment and gender equality. Overall, the all-women athletic meet organised by North and Middle Andaman District Police was a resounding success, promoting physical fitness and women empowerment among women of all age groups. The event served as a reminder of the immense potential and strength of women and their ability to excel in all spheres of life. The district police officials expressed their commitment to organising more such events in the future to promote physical fitness and women empowerment.
