In an effort to combat the drug trade in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the local police have been taking a tough stance against drug peddlers operating in the North & Middle District. Under the leadership of SDPO Diglipur, personnel from Diglipur Police Station have been closely monitoring the activities of anti-social elements in the area, maintaining constant vigilance to crack down on the drug trade.
Recently, the police team from Diglipur Police Station received credible information about the possession of illicit ganja, prompting them to immediately constitute a raiding team to apprehend the perpetrators. The team successfully apprehended the accused, Suresh Kumar, son of M. Anand, aged 26 years and a resident of Garacharma, Port Blair. Kumar was carrying illicit ganja and was looking to sell it to potential customers in the district.
The raiding team, led by SHO Diglipur, acted under the NDPS Act and conducted a thorough search, resulting in the recovery of a transparent polythene bag containing 10 packets of illicit ganja, weighing a total of 248 grams, along with a chillum and rolling paper. This successful operation has helped to curb the drug trade in the North & Middle District and has undoubtedly helped prevent the harmful effects of drugs on the community.
Throughout this operation, Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District, provided essential leadership and oversight, ensuring that the raid was carried out with maximum efficiency and professionalism. Her guidance has been instrumental in guiding the efforts of the police teams, and her overall supervision has helped to ensure that the operation was conducted in a manner that upheld the highest standards of law enforcement.
