Vijayawada: NTR District Police on Wednesday destroyed 2.5 lakh bottles of liquor worth around Rs.5.75 crore seized in Thotacherla village of Penuganchiprolu mandal. Vijayawada Commissioner of Police Mr. Kanti Rana Tata IPS, DCP Mrs. Mary Prashanthi IPS and Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) ACP Mr. M. Satthibabu destroyed the seized liquor. The commissioner told the media persons that liquor bottles were seized in 6,075 cases registered in the last two years in various police stations under Nandigama sub-division. According to the provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Excise Act, illegal liquor has been destroyed.
Officials have warned that Preventive Detention (PD) Act is being applied against those who manufacture adulterated liquor in Mylavaram, Thiruvuru and Wissannapet. “Police will continue to crack down on illegal activities like manufacture and supply of illicit liquor, NDPL, ganja and other tobacco products,” he warned.
