<![CDATA[In the third such incident within a week, a man with several criminal cases against him was shot at by the police after he allegedly attacked a constable in RMC Yard police station limits on Monday morning. Just after midnight on Sunday, Ashwath, 22, a resident of Chikkasandra, waylaid Anniyappa and stole a scooter, mobile phones and Rs.300 in cash at Mariyappapalya. The RMC Yard police received an alert and immediately set up bundobust. A team of police tracked Ashwath and surrounded him in the wee hours of Monday. Mr. Chetan Singh Rathor, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North)told that Ashwath did not relent, and tried to attack a constable with a machete. The constable, Mr. Akash, was injured. The inspector fired in the air and when Ashwath did not stop, the officer was forced to shoot in the leg . Ashwath has four cases of theft against him in various police stations and had come out of prison on bail just a month ago. It was earlier on Wednesday that Hassain Pasha, 20, was shot at in the leg after he allegedly attacked the police, who had gone to arrest him from Yamlur for his alleged role in the murder of an elderly couple in Marathahalli. While three people were arrested in the case, Pasha had reportedly stabbed the couple. On Sunday, Palani, 30, who has several cases of murder, attempt to murder, and other heinous crimes, was shot at in the leg as the Konankunte police attempted to arrest him.
