Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh: The AP Police Annual Conference–2025, presented by Director General of Police Shri Harish Kumar Gupta, IPS, highlighted significant improvements in law and order across Andhra Pradesh, achieved through effective preventive policing, focused supervision, smart investigations, and technology-driven enforcement.
According to the conference presentation, the state recorded a notable decline in crime during 2025. Total IPC/BNS crimes reduced from 1, 10,193 in 2024 to 1,03,397 in 2025, marking an overall reduction of approximately 6 percent. Importantly, POCSO cases declined by around 11 percent, reflecting strengthened protection measures for children. The police also secured 510 convictions in crimes against women and POCSO cases, underscoring improved investigation quality and legal follow-through.
Emergency response capabilities saw a major boost, with ERSS–112 response times reduced by nearly 50 percent, ensuring quicker assistance to citizens in distress.
Technology-Led Policing Drives Results
The DGP emphasised the transformative role of technology in policing. The deployment of drones, CCTV networks, NATGRID, AFIS, AI-based tools, and advanced data analytics has significantly enhanced crime detection, surveillance, and investigation efficiency. A major milestone was the successful conduct of India’s first Law Enforcement AI Hackathon, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a national leader in police innovation.
The Annual Conference concluded that 2025 marks a decisive shift towards technology-led, intelligence-driven, and outcome-oriented policing in Andhra Pradesh. The measurable gains in crime reduction, faster response, stronger investigations, and enhanced institutional capacity reflect the AP Police’s continued commitment to public safety, professionalism, and citizen-centric service.
