Hyderabad: Based on reliable information, the commissioner’s task force apprehended five individuals for illegally stockpiling rice from the public distribution system (PDS) and selling it on the black market.
The raids were conducted on Thursday within the jurisdictions of Humayun Nagar, Chilkalaguda, Musheerabad, Malakpet, and Yakutpura police stations. The authorities seized 46 quintals of PDS rice, four quintals of PDS wheat, a weighing machine, a two-wheeler, and an Ashok Leyland vehicle, all valued at Rs 2.5 lakh.
The accused were found to be collecting PDS rice and wheat from ration card beneficiaries and storing the grains in a warehouse, which was subsequently raided and seized by the police. The suspects were handed over to the respective police stations for further legal action.
The accused include Vishal Yadav (22) from Attapur, Mohammad Nasir (28) from Bholakpur in Musheerabad, Mohd Shoaib (20) and Mohd Jahangir (28) from Mahamoodguda in Warasiguda, Mohd Shahabaz (28) from Warasiguda, Sangam Lova alias Raju (24) from Green Park Colony in Saroornagar, Syed Raheem (25), Syed Nazim (24), and Mohammed Mazher (28) from Patel Nagar in Amberpet.

Venkat Reddy of the southeast zone, A. Nagarjuna of the east zone, along with the staff of the commissioner’s task force, participated in the raids. The DCP emphasized that the raids would continue in support of the civil supplies department and issued a stern warning that action will be taken against those involved in such illegal activities.
