Kasaragod: The Kasaragod Cyber Crime Police have successfully apprehended Jafar, the prime suspect in a case involving the defrauding of a woman through a series of fraudulent transactions conducted via WhatsApp. Jafar had deceived the woman by presenting a fraudulent scheme that he falsely claimed was related to online trading, tricking her into transferring a substantial sum of money over several instances. The total amount involved in the scam is estimated to be around Rs.41 lakhs.
The investigation leading to Jafar’s arrest was meticulously conducted by Senior Civil Police Officers (SCPOs) Rajnith, Dileesh, and Sudesh. These officers operated under the direct supervision of Kasaragod District Police Chief, Smt. Shilpa, an officer with the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIPS). The operation was led by Inspector Anoop Kumar E., who heads the Kasaragod Cyber Crime Police Station.
The arrest represents a significant development in the case, showcasing the coordinated efforts of the Kasaragod police to crack down on cyber fraud and bring justice to victims who have fallen prey to sophisticated online scams. The case also highlights the growing role of cybercrime units in dealing with the increasing number of internet-based financial crimes, particularly those targeting vulnerable individuals through social media platforms like WhatsApp.
