<![CDATA[Gurugram: The Haryana Police had arrested a youth in connection with the rape and murder of a three year old girl earlier this month. Upon investigation it was found that the accused, Sunil Kumar had earlier kidnapped and killed seven more girls aged between 3 to 8 years after raping them in separate cases in Gurugram, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh over the past two years, the police said on Tuesday. DCP (Crime) Mr. Sumit Kuhar said of the seven victims, two belong to Gurugram, three are from Delhi and one each is from Gwalior and Jhansi. The modus operandi of the accused was to kidnap minor girls from community feasts at religious places and the victim used to be raped and later on killed the police said. Minor girls from slums would also be kidnapped by him when their parents would be away for work. Mr. Kuhar, DCP said the accused would violently attack his victims and break their limbs before killing them. During interrogation the accused, Sunil had confessed to the murders and the facts were being verified from the police stations concerned, the officer said. In addition to the rape and murder of the three-year-old girl abducted from a slum group in Sector 66 on November 11, the accused had kidnapped a girl from outside a temple on Sohna Road in November 2016 and another girl at Civil Lines in January last. Both the girls were raped and murdered. In the latest case, the victim was subjected to extreme violence during rape causing severe injuries to her private parts. The girl died as she was hit with a heavy object and got head injuries. Mr. Kuhar said the police have questioned around 2,000 homeless persons sleeping on the roads during an extensive search operation for the accused. Mr. Kuhar said that we had information that he preferred to eat at community feasts at religious places and slept on the roads. We conducted three community feasts on November 13, 22 and 24 laying a trap for him. The accused after committing the crime on November 11 ate at a Gurudwara and spent the night at Nehru Park. He then reached Delhi and took a train to Uttar Pradesh on the next day after spending the night under Nizamuddin Bridge. The senior police officer said that on the earlier two occasions, the police had no clue but this time he was seen enticing the victim. A CCTV camera had captured him along with the victim at a group housing society and his relatives also provided his picture. Sunil hails from Mahoba district in UP. He was nabbed from Magapur village on Monday. He was produced before the court in the afternoon and remanded in eight days police custody, the police said.]]>
