North & Middle Andaman: On October 25, 2023, the A&N Police initiated legal proceedings against individuals involved in the misappropriation of Rs.56,88,395/- of Government funds at the ANIDCO Wine Shop in Rangat. The Rangat Police Station registered a case, leading to the immediate arrest of two suspects who were later placed in judicial custody following thorough interrogation. Meanwhile, efforts to locate the prime accused, G. Vinod Kumar, the Manager of ANIDCO Wine Shop, were underway as he had gone missing from the islands.
Responding to the situation, a dedicated team was promptly assembled to conduct an extensive search for the accused across the islands and the mainland. Despite the accused’s attempts to secure anticipatory bail in both the Sessions Court and High Court, the police successfully presented a compelling case resulting in the rejection of bail.
On November 23, 2023, the accused was apprehended by the North & Middle Andaman District Police while attempting to change his hideout. Currently in police custody, the accused is undergoing thorough interrogation to unveil further details about the significant misappropriation of government funds.
The Investigating Officer, SI Deva Raju, exhibited exceptional commitment and diligence, working tirelessly to solve the case. The collective efforts, dedication, and hard work of the entire police team are praiseworthy and merit suitable recognition. The investigation was conducted under the guidance of Inspector R.K. Mazumder, SHO Rangat Police Station, and supervised by SDPO Rangat Mr. Chandra Prakash Meena, DANIPS, with overall oversight by Mrs. Geetanjali Khandelwal, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District.
