Assam, Guwahati: In a strong demonstration of improved policing and judicial coordination, the Assam Police has reported a remarkable rise in both charge sheet filing and conviction rates, as shared during the Monthly Crime Review meeting chaired at the Police Headquarters (PHQ).
According to the latest data:
The charge sheet percentage has surged to 75.50%, up from 47.8% in 2020 and 66.71% in 2024.
The conviction rate has improved to 25.33%, marking a substantial rise from 5.5% in 2020 and 22.95% in 2024.
In cases under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the charge sheet rate stands at 80.4%, with an impressive 61.13% conviction rate.
These encouraging figures reflect the outcome of sustained efforts under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma. The police force remains deeply committed to ensuring timely justice, stronger case management, and enhanced public safety across the state.
