Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu: In a strong step towards curbing narcotics menace, the Avadi Police Commissionerate destroyed a large quantity of seized ganja in strict compliance with court orders. A special committee was constituted to oversee the destruction of approximately 510 kg of ganja seized in 90 cases from various police stations and the Prohibition Enforcement Wing within the Avadi Police Commissionerate limits.
The destruction was carried out under the leadership of Avadi Additional Commissioner of Police, Ms. K. Bhavaneeswari, IPS, in the presence of senior police officers and Forensic Science Department officials. The contraband was scientifically incinerated at the Insulator Facility of G.J. Multiclave India Pvt. Ltd., Chengalpattu district, ensuring complete and safe disposal.
Police officials stated that during the year 2025, the Avadi Police Commissionerate has so far seized and destroyed a total of 2,892 kg of ganja, valued at approximately ₹2.90 crore, in connection with 581 cases.
This decisive action highlights the Avadi Police’s firm commitment to eradicating drug trafficking and safeguarding public health by preventing seized narcotics from re-entering society.
