Anantapur: District SP Mr. KKN Anburajan IPS has urged individuals to utilize either the CEIR application, as implemented by the central government or the successful chat bot service with the number 9440796812, provided by the Anantapur district police department, for recovering lost or stolen cell phones. Acting upon the directives of Hon’ble Andhra Pradesh State DGP Mr. KV Rajendranath Reddy IPS, it has been revealed through the chat bot that 8,000 phones valued at Rs.13.50 crores have been recovered and returned to the public.
The chat bot WhatsApp number 9440796812, introduced less than two years ago, aims to facilitate the retrieval of lost phones without the need for individuals to visit police stations and file FIRs. To initiate the process, individuals are instructed to send a message saying HI on WhatsApp to the mentioned number. Upon doing so, they will receive a welcome message from Anantapuram Chat Bot Services, along with a prompt to fill in their name, address, and other relevant details. If all information is correctly provided and confirmed, the complaint is processed by the district police chat bot service, which diligently works towards recovering the lost device. In light of this, the SP encourages the use of CEIR application or the chat bot number 9440796812.
Those who have already lodged a complaint with CEIR or Chatbot for their lost cell phones are not required to resend their details. The cyber personnel of the district police are actively involved in tracing the phones based on the existing complaint information.
