Hyderabad: The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for the North Zone conducted student awareness and interaction programs at Geetanjali Devashray School which is within the Gopalapuram Police Station limits and St. Andrews School which is within the Bowenpally Police Station limits. Approximately 950 students participated in these programs at both locations.
The purpose of the program was to educate school students about critical issues impacting their well-being and safety. The sessions aimed to raise awareness on topics such as physical and mental health, cybercrimes, drug abuse, and gender sensitivity.
Students actively participated and engaged with their questions. The interaction covered maintaining good health, recognizing mental health issues, and seeking help when needed. It included explanations on online safety, identifying cyber threats, protecting personal information, and practicing caution in online transactions and communications. The dangers of drug abuse and its effects were highlighted, along with encouragement for healthy lifestyle choices. The sessions also addressed understanding and respect for all genders, tackling gender biases, and fostering an inclusive environment.
The program aimed to empower students to make informed decisions, develop healthy habits, and understand their social responsibilities, thereby contributing to a safer and more supportive school and social environment. The students’ response and interaction were positive and proactive.
