Hyderabad, Telangana: The Government of Telangana on Friday appointed senior IPS officer Shri B. Shivadhar Reddy as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of the state, marking a new chapter in Telangana’s police leadership.
Shri Reddy, a 1994-batch IPS officer, formally received his appointment papers from Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy. His elevation to the state’s top police post reflects the government’s confidence in his proven track record, vision, and leadership.
Known for his distinguished service, Shri Reddy most recently served as Telangana’s Intelligence Chief—a position he also held as the first-ever Intelligence Chief following the formation of the state. Over the course of his career, he has built a reputation for professionalism and efficiency in critical assignments.
His extensive policing experience includes serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Hyderabad’s South Zone, as a commander in the elite Greyhounds anti-insurgency force, and as Police Commissioner of Visakhapatnam. Adding to his credentials, Shri Reddy holds an LLB degree from Osmania University, strengthening his expertise in law enforcement and legal frameworks.
With his appointment, Telangana Police gains a leader deeply committed to strengthening law and order, modernizing policing practices, and ensuring public safety across the state.
