Prakasam, Andhra Pradesh: In a major step towards enhancing coastal safety, a Bay Watch Tower has been inaugurated at Pakala Beach, Singarayakonda Mandal, by State Social Welfare Minister Dr. Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, along with Prakasam District Collector Smt. A. Tamim Ansariya, IAS, and District SP Sri A. R. Damodar, IPS. Built at a cost of ₹15 lakh, the tower aims to prevent accidents and improve emergency response mechanisms for the growing number of beach visitors.
The tower will aid in monitoring ocean currents, identifying dangerous tidal conditions, and facilitating real-time alerts and rapid police response. The State Minister emphasized that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that every tourist returns home safely. The police and Coast Guard are working in close coordination to maintain vigilance and strengthen coastal security.
District Collector highlighted the growing popularity of Pakala Beach and stressed the importance of prioritizing tourist safety alongside development. The tower provides critical updates on sea conditions, allowing for early detection and timely action.
SP A. R. Damodar noted that continuous picketing, patrolling, CC cameras, emergency response systems, and warning boards are being deployed. He urged tourists to stay cautious, particularly ensuring children remain under adult supervision.
The SP specially commended Singarayakonda CI Ch. Hajaratiah and SI Mahendra for their instrumental role in setting up the tower and installing state-of-the-art surveillance systems, public address features, and time-announce alerts.
