Karnataka, Bengaluru: During the weekly press briefing held today, the Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru, highlighted several major breakthroughs by the city police across various crime categories.
In a significant crackdown on vehicle theft and snatching, police teams from Kadugondanahalli, Banaswadi, and Basavanagudi Police Stations arrested 10 individuals involved in multiple incidents of vehicle theft and mobile snatching. The operation led to the recovery of 3 cars, 13 two-wheelers, and one iPhone, collectively valued at ₹20.14 lakh. These arrests helped solve 11 cases. Citizens are advised to use reliable vehicle locking systems, park in safe areas, and stay vigilant by reporting suspicious activities.
In another operation, Siddapura Police cracked a major theft and robbery case with the arrest of two suspects linked to house break-ins, mobile snatching, and two-wheeler thefts. Authorities recovered 179 grams of gold, 570 grams of silver, 5 mobile phones, and 4 stolen vehicles—worth approximately ₹20 lakh. This has led to the resolution of 9 cases registered in Siddapur, Adugodi, Cubbon Park, and Halasur Gate police limits. Separately, Marathahalli Police arrested a woman for stealing gold from her own family. A total of 258 grams of gold valued at ₹21 lakh was recovered, including 30 grams pawned at a jewellery shop and 228 grams hidden at her home.
Additionally, Bengaluru City Police’s CCB-SIT team carried out an extensive operation between April 2 and 18, targeting illegal cricket betting and black-market ticket sales related to the Tata IPL. Raids across nine police station jurisdictions led to multiple arrests and the seizure of over ₹2 crore in cash, digital devices, betting records, chips, and more than 50 unauthorized IPL tickets. Authorities urged citizens to refrain from engaging in illegal betting or ticket resale and to report any related activities promptly.
The Commissioner emphasized continued efforts to enhance public safety and encouraged community cooperation in crime prevention.
