Karnataka, Bengaluru: In a successful rescue operation by Vyalikaval police station in Bengaluru, a two-and-a-half-year-old child was safely reunited with parents after briefly going missing while playing outside their home near Pipeline Road. The incident occurred on Thursday morning around 9:20 AM when the child wandered approximately half a kilometer from home while the parents were occupied with sending their older child to school.
CCTV footage revealed that a woman named Suma (name changed) from Huliurdurga had taken the child. Upon investigation, police found Suma, who was later determined to be mentally ill, near Devaiya Park on Friday morning with the child. Further investigation revealed that Suma, who was visiting her brother in the area, had spent about 10 minutes playing with the child before taking the child away. Given Suma’s mental health condition and the absence of criminal intent, no charges were filed against her, and she was released to her family’s custody. The incident serves as a reminder about the importance of maintaining vigilant supervision of young children.
