Motihari (East Champaran)/ Bihar: In a decisive move against cybercriminals, the Cyber Police Station of East Champaran district arrested four members of a cyber-fraud gang who had been duping people through online scams.
During the operation, police seized 2 laptops, 12 mobile phones, 26 SIM cards, 62 ATM cards, and digital records of multiple banks, along with other incriminating material.
Investigations revealed that the gang was cheating victims by creating fake Facebook IDs, making false claims of relatives stranded abroad, promising quick loans, offering electricity bill updates, and even posing as police officers to extort money through the so-called ‘digital arrest’ scam.
Police officials emphasized that strong action will continue against such fraudsters to protect the public from online crimes. Citizens are urged to remain alert, avoid sharing personal details with strangers, and immediately report suspicious activities to the cyber helpline 1930 or through www.cybercrime.gov.in (http://www.cybercrime.gov.in).
The Bihar Police reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding people from cyber fraud and ensuring that cyber criminals face strict legal consequences.
