Rachakonda: A great initiative of organizing a blood donation camp jointly by Rachakonda Police and the Indian Red Cross Society was taken up at Yadadri Bhongir zone and Yadgirigutta towns from 10 am to 2 pm on 4th and 5th May 2021.
Several youths from Bhongir and Yadgirgutta towns and nearby villages voluntarily walked into the camp to donate blood. 183 donors donated blood. The Red Cross Society stated that donated blood would be used for saving the lives of Thalassemia patients, emergency & accident victims across the Telangana State. CP Rachakonda Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat IPS appealed to the youth to donate blood for Thalassemia patients during the pandemic. As the COVID-19 mass vaccination is underway and blood donation is not accepted from people who have been vaccinated, a blood donation camp was organized well in advance to reserve blood for Thalassemia patients to tide over the crisis during the ongoing pandemic.
As many as 183 units of blood were collected from donors at Bhongir and Yadgirigutta towns and handed over to Red Cross Society. A group of 4 doctors and 10 nurses were present for conducting the camp. Refreshments were served to all donors who participated in the camp. DCP Bhongir, ACPs of Bhongir and Yadgirigutta, and Inspectors and Sis took part in the camp.
